Frequently asked questions
How do I make a table in Slack?
Slack displays a table when you paste tab-separated values (TSV), the format spreadsheets put in the clipboard. Paste your data in TableToSlack, click “Copy for Slack” and paste in your message: Slack shows a proper table.
Why does my Markdown or CSV table look broken in Slack?
Slack does not support Markdown tables, and pasted CSV stays plain text. Only tab-separated content becomes a table. TableToSlack converts your table to that format.
Is my data sent to a server?
No. All the conversion happens in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded or stored, and the site has no analytics.
Which formats are supported?
CSV (comma or semicolon), TSV, Excel (.xlsx, .xls), OpenDocument (.ods), Apple Numbers, Google Sheets, Markdown tables, JSON and JSON Lines, HTML tables, MySQL / PostgreSQL output, box-drawing tables and space-aligned CLI output.
Is there a size limit?
Not in TableToSlack, but Slack tables are limited to about 20 columns and 100 rows. The tool warns you when your table is bigger.
Is TableToSlack affiliated with Slack?
No. TableToSlack is an independent free tool, not affiliated with or endorsed by Slack Technologies or Salesforce.
